What is a kidney & why its health is important?


A kidney is the filtering system of our body. It filters out the waste material and harmful toxins from our body. It balances the hormones as well as cleanses the blood in our body.


Due to various reasons, people get infected from kidney disease. There are mainly 5 stages of kidney disease. People with different backgrounds of chronic kidney disease have to follow other diet plans. As somebody reaches the last stage of kidney disease, it might cause kidney failure or need dialysis. In the Ayurvedic medication method, you have to include some changes in your diet plan. Allopathy medication is too fast, but it is risky too. It has side effects too, which are harmful to your other organs. But in Ayurveda, you have to maintain your dietary habits according to Ayurveda and take medicines. Here are some of the diet-related guidelines which you should follow:

  1. Eat antioxidant-rich food – you must take antioxidant-rich food every day, which helps reduce inflammation. It not only enables you to reduce inflammation, but it is helpful for our kidneys to detoxify our bodily toxins. Such foods are beans, lentils, peas, spices, dark-colored fruits & vegetables, and unprocessed grains such as oatmeal, quinoa, brown rice, etc.

  2. Veggies- veggies are rich in minerals & nutrients. But chronic kidney patients can’t eat all the veggies. They can have bottle gourd, round gourd, zuccini, raw papaya, onion, green pumpkin regularly. But CKD stage 5 patients can eat carrot, radish, cabbage, bitter gourd, red bell pepper once in a week.

  3. Dairy products- people suffering from CKD 5 can take double-toned and cow milk. They can eat paneer and egg white once in a week.

  4. Protein- Those kidney patients who are going through dialysis are at higher risk of inflammation and weakness-related issues. So, doctors used to give them some additional protein in their diet.
